Rhino-Rack Shower Tent 32149: Fit and Clearance Guide
The Rhino-Rack Shower Tent 32149 is a rack-mounted privacy and changing accessory with its own bracket positions, height choices, and deployed footprint. The manufacturer lists compatible rack families, but that list does not confirm that a particular vehicle can carry the rack, tent, and other equipment together. Check the exact vehicle and installed system before buying or fitting it.

What the product listing establishes
Rhino-Rack’s current US product page lists the 32149 as 1.1 m (43 in) long when packed and extending 1 m (39 in) from the vehicle when deployed. It lists 10 m² coverage, a 14.8 lb product weight, and 2000 mm water resistance. The page also says the package includes the shower tent, mounting brackets, and pegs. These are product specifications, not a vehicle load or clearance result. Read the 32149 product listing and confirm the regional page and kit contents for the market where you will use it.
The same listing names Sportz, Reconn-Deck, Pioneer Tradie 6-series, Vortex, Pioneer Platform, and Pioneer Elevation as compatible rack families. It separately links the 31128 Universal Awning Bracket Pair and 31129 Universal Freestanding Awning Bracket Pair as compatible products. Do not assume that each listed bracket is required in addition to the mounting hardware supplied with the tent. Follow the instructions for the installed rack branch and confirm any extra adapter or bracket with Rhino-Rack if the configuration is unclear.
Follow the exact 32149 mounting branch
The 32149 fitting instructions, issue 03 dated 22 May 2025, call for a two-person installation and direct the installer to check that the roof racks are in their correct vehicle locations. The manual organizes the mounting steps by Pioneer Platform and named crossbar paths. Match the diagrams and parts to the installed model rather than borrowing steps from a different bracket or awning.
For the platform branch, the instructions show the base brackets at the outer edges of the platform, away from channel openings. They specify at least 400 mm between bracket centers and provide four bracket-height configurations. The manual then calls for both overhead connections to be inspected before the tent is released and directs the installer to check the completed fitment. Its tailgate note says to position the tent with the tailgate in mind. Use the current manual for the exact hardware and tighten values; do not estimate from a photograph or from the nominal dimensions alone.

Check the complete vehicle setup
Measure the tent’s deployed projection against the actual side of the vehicle and check access around the tailgate, doors, and neighboring accessories. The 1 m projection tells you how far the product extends from the vehicle according to the product listing; it does not guarantee that your rear hatch or another accessory will clear it. The bracket-height choice may change placement, so verify the installed and deployed configuration before use.
Count the rack or platform, all brackets and adapters, the 32149’s 14.8 lb (about 6.7 kg) product weight, and any other carried equipment against the vehicle’s roof allowance and every relevant rack and accessory limit. The product page’s compatibility list does not establish a vehicle-specific load rating, combined-accessory approval, or a wind limit. If your vehicle or installed rack instructions do not establish the full load path, ask the vehicle or rack maker or a qualified fitter before use.
The issue 03 fitting instructions require guy ropes whenever the tent is deployed. They advise against setting it up in windy conditions, say not to leave it open unattended, and recommend stowing it in strong winds; they give no numeric wind threshold. Do not sit on the awning, use it to lift your body weight, or strap cargo to it. When it is open on a beach or sand, the instructions call for Rhino-Rack sand screws (part 31113), sold separately. The kit’s included pegs do not replace that specific direction. Dry wet material before stowing it for an extended period. See the load, wind, and clearance guide for the general checks that apply to roof-mounted accessories.
