2026 Subaru Crosstrek Roof Cargo Carrier Fit: Crossbars and Spoiler Limits

The 2026 Subaru Crosstrek accessories brochure lists two Thule roof cargo carriers, but it does not give a complete installed fit result for every vehicle. It specifies the crossbar sets required for the listed carriers and names a spoiler incompatibility for the Extended model. The trim, roof equipment, vehicle load limit and installed clearances still need to be checked before purchase or use.

What the 2026 US brochure lists

Listed carrier Subaru part Brochure dimensions Crossbar and equipment notes
Thule Cargo Carrier SOA567C023 65 × 34.5 × 16 in; 13 cu ft Aero Extended or Fixed Crossbar Set required; not recommended with Aero.
Thule Cargo Carrier – Extended SOA567C032 84 × 34.5 × 17 in; 17 cu ft Aero Extended or Fixed Crossbar Set required; not recommended with Aero; incompatible with Roof Spoiler and STI Roof Spoiler.

These are exterior dimensions and listed storage volumes, not the usable space for every item. The brochure describes dual-side opening and Quick-Grip installation for the listed carriers. Those features do not confirm that a carrier clears the hatch or fits the roof of a particular Crosstrek.

Identify the matching crossbar path

Subaru’s brochure says the Fixed Crossbar Set is for vehicles without roof rails and lists part SOA367043 for Base trim. It lists Aero Extended crossbars for trims other than Base and a black Aero Extended variant for Crosstrek Wilderness. The brochure also says the listed cargo carriers are not recommended with the Aero Crossbar Set.

Use those details to identify a candidate path, then confirm the current part and vehicle application using the exact VIN, trim and roof equipment. Do not assume that a crossbar part listed for one trim fits another, or that factory rails can support a cargo box without the required crossbars. This brochure is for the US accessory program; it does not establish Canadian or UK parts or availability.

The Extended carrier has a spoiler restriction

Illustration of the listed Extended carrier and crossbars conflicting with a raised roof spoiler; verify the exact vehicle and current accessory instructions

The brochure states that the Extended carrier is incompatible with the Roof Spoiler and STI Roof Spoiler. Treat that as a specific fit restriction for the listed accessory path. If the vehicle has either spoiler, do not use the Extended carrier unless Subaru’s current instructions provide a changed approved setup. The brochure does not provide a measurement-based clearance exception.

Confirm the complete installed setup

Before choosing a box, check all of the following against current vehicle, crossbar and carrier instructions:

  1. Confirm the model year, market, trim, roof rails and spoiler equipment.
  2. Verify the correct Crossbar Set and carrier part for that configuration.
  3. Check the carrier’s permitted bar spread, clamp interface and width.
  4. Open the hatch fully and verify the box’s required front clearance.
  5. Find the vehicle’s driving roof-load limit and account for the crossbars, empty carrier and cargo. Stay within the lowest applicable component rating.

Vehicle-configuration, crossbar, carrier, clamp, hatch-clearance, and load checks for a candidate setup

The brochure directs owners to the vehicle owner’s manual for the total roof load limit. It does not provide that limit, a trim-specific installation result, crossbar spacing or hatch clearance. Neither 13 nor 17 cubic feet is a weight allowance. If any required detail is missing, keep the fit result conditional and confirm it with Subaru or a qualified installer.

For the general rack-first Crosstrek path, read roof boxes for Crosstreks without crossbars. For the installed measurements, use the roof-box size and clearance guide.
